CATFLAP
Scottish Charity No. SC026114

How you can help us

There are many other roles for volunteers within the Charity:

· Home checkers- anyone who wishes to adopt a CATFLAP cat is visited by one of our volunteers to discuss the Charity's policies and ensure that the cats will be going to a good home.

· Transporters- cats have to be taken to and from vets for treatment as well as being rescued in the first place. Our transporters are a valuable asset to carry out this work.

· Fundraisers - the Charity has to carry out a number of fund raising activities to ensure that vet bills, food and litter and many other valuable parts of our work can be carried out. Volunteers help at these events.

CATFLAP has a Homing Officer, Sheila Frater, who co-ordinates all of the activities of the fosterers, transporters and home checkers. Sheila constantly mans our telephone hotline in an effort to help as many cats as we can. Sheila has unfortunately had to listen to many heartbreaking stories, which can be very distressing for her, but her vast knowledge and experience has also been comforting for some who need our help.

Fundraising : We organise 3 main events a year to raise funds and attend a number of pre-organised events in the area. Our main CATFLAP events are:

Spring Fair : We have a variety of stall including cat beds, toys and preserves.

Photograph Show : We ask for people to submit photos of their cats and display them, awarding prizes for different criteria.

Christmas Fair : Again we have a variety of stalls and include some crafts that would be useful for Christmas presents.

We are presently trying to raise funds to build outdoor cat pens to increase our foster homes.
